was out for my 18 mile long run today, got about 20 minutes in and this ridiculous thunder and lightning storm started kicking up. the rain felt good but i really thought i was going to get hit by lightning. i kept thinking about how it's more likely that you will get hit by lightning than get attacked by a shark and that did not help matters. a car stopped and asked if i needed a ride somewhere, this was about five miles in, and i said no thanks, and kept going to the 9 mile turn around.
at the time i was thinking that if i turned around and went home i'd have to sit around for a few more hours before going running and that would be almost as bad as getting killed by the lightning strikes.
i feel pretty stupid about it now. i was probably overreacting and not in as much danger as i thought myself to be in. but i've never seen that much lightning before. it was pretty insane.
i kept praying the whole time and thinking about that saying that goes 'there are no atheists in foxholes'. has to be true.
anyone else run in the storms today?
