Well its time to start up the Fall Marathon Training Thread again to keep us all inspired and enlightened to what other fellow marathoners are doing.
I'll start off. I am targeting the Thunder Road Marathon in Charlotte on December 13th (home town race) so I'll be one of the last on this thread to give a race report. I have 3 half marathons scheduled between now and then to give me good feedback on how the training is coming. My bigger goal is the 2009 Boston Marathon where I'll make my Masters division debut.
I spent 14 weeks from the end of March to the end of June lay a good base, slowly taking my mileage from 70 per week up to 105 per week. The last two weeks I have begun to add in some quality.
This week was 103 miles the highlights of which were:
- 4 x 2 mile @ 12:02 w 400 jog recovery (2:30) on a rolling road loop on Thursday morning
- 16 x 200 strides with 200 jog on Friday afternoon
- 20 mile long run with 1 mile surge at the 15 mile point. I had planned to extend the surge longer but with temps in the 80's and humidity high at that point I needed to back-off early.
At this point I'm just doing what I can on my long runs until the weather cooperates a little more.
Lets here your plans and how your week went.
