If you're only running 1-2 hours a day, what do you spend the rest of your time in? Work, hanging out, etc.

Home- barefoot.
In the sack- barefoot.
Cubicle- barefoot.
When I have to walk around at work or go to a meeting:

i don't wear out the uppers, and many times I just throw the old ones into the wash and wear the old pair after buying new.
i sometimes wear clogs to work and sometimes wear those ~$10 water socks on the weekends. at home, we don't wear shoes in the house, so only socks or bare feet ... and "Crocs" or similar for back yard excursions or to get the newspaper or mail.

Wow, you really paid $140 for those shoes? They sure saw you coming.
mostly barefoot, some Vibram fivefingers, flipflops
Barefoot around the house (socks during Maine winter), which is where I work. Something like the Sanuks below for outside civilian life.

Money isn't an issue with me, Pip. To quote Dave Chappelle, "I'm rich b*tch!".

Alright, Gus.
Birkenstocks
I wear a shoe that looks similar to the one in the post 'Seriously' linked to. They are mainly just a leather loafer type shoe with no cushioning or heel lift and a thin rubber sole. They only cost me around $50 or so.
If I'm at home, I walking around barefoot.
Flip flops..good..bad?
Any other work shoe examples? I have to wear dockers, polo shirt, etc.
Mostly barefoot at home. Otherwise Birkenstocks, flip-flops, Vivo Barefoot. Winter = low-heeled boots.
Those other 22 hours of the day are a big issue - wearing street shoes with "normal" heel height makes me a lot more susceptible to calf cramps at night.
bump
I certainly do not go barefoot to work nor will I ever be caught dead wearing Crocs. At home I'm usually barefoot, but I wear older pairs of flats, Nike Frees, or flip-flops most of the outside the house. I tried wearing a pair of "regular" running shoes just for walking around in and couldn't do it. They hurt my feet and felt like casts. However, I still usually wear heels when I dress up. Guys shouldn't have too much of a problem with that (unless you are into that sort of thing).
