"Luke Puskedra's Coach (A High School Kid) Says He Can Run Sub 8:30 for 2 Miles No way. We'd bet as much money as he wants at 100-1 that it won't happen."
From the main page on letsrun. Isn't it entirely possible that Luke and/or his buddies check this site? I understand if you don't think it's all that likely for him to do(but you can't know for certain at this point) but why blast they kid like this? If you were in high school and needed to believe in something in order to have a shot at it, would it help your cause (and this is certainly a great cause) if you got on the web-bible of the sport and saw that not only did the running world didn't believe in you, but they said you didn't have a chance in hell?
And while you could certainly be right, you could also be wrong. A LOT of people would not have said German could until he actually ran so well at state. Even after his strong doubles prior, many would not have believed he could.
Blasting a 26 or 30 year old veteran is one thing, but a high schooler? And before you say you are blasting the coach, you know who this will affect and who believes himself that he can do it.
