almost made the male b standard for the us
I understand tha Runyan DNFed...what about Rhines...top American men??
MF
looks like Rhines dropped at 22 miles
MF
From New York Marathon webpage
Marla Runyan reportedly stopped for 30 seconds in the 19th mile, at 111th Street on First Avenue, but is now back in the race
Rhines dropped out at 22.
Mosqueda was on pace to get the Olympic Standard at 20.
McVeigh 1:51:14 at 20 miles (Downin top American at 20)
Mosqueda 2:33:11
Clifton and Lewy also dropped along the course.
Men's Final - Martin Lel, 2:10:29 unofficial.
opps Lewy was supposed to be a pacer.
It looks like Team Deena wasn't that sucessful. Deena lead them out right on pace through the 10K and half but none of the four she was supposed to pace in the article on Runners World were even close to breaking 2:40. Heat and humidity a factor?
Did anyone tape the full coverage broadcast in new york? I'd gladly do a trade or pay for a copy.
2nd American woman
16 Jenny Crain 2:38:50
Wow. Good for her. Few would have predicted Mosqueda and Crain as the top 2 Americans looking at the field going in.
Runyan finished...2:47
Rhines was about 2:42
Matt Downin...top American...2:18-mid.
Rhines 2:43:02
Pawelek 2:45:20
Runyan 2:45:12
following on the ING website, they said that both Rhines and Runyan had dropped late in the race...must have just jogged in...re: US men, I've got Downin at 2;13:35, Larson 2:15;18, Hanneck 2:15:20 and McVeigh 2:25:42

that doesn't bother me. i've always thought, whatever level you're at, that the minimum standard for being 'good' is about what the absolute best women in the world are doing.
American HS:
if you run some of our HS records (esp. in the sprints) you're not above average for a high school guy: 22.1, 50.6, 9:52 2mi.
Elite: the 2:20s were always a mark of doing "well" for a local male athelte. Now though, if you want to run good girl times you've got to beat 2:15, so the bar has been raised.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
