I basically ran in the same category for a while of shoes and i really like the adidas supernova light 6, ive went throug a few pairs of those and been happy.
Now i've been feeling better in more neutral lightweight trainers and i really love the Nike katana series for those.
although people seem to love them, i did not like the DS trainers. I had a pair (XI, i think) and the rubber in the forefoot wore through to the midsole after about 150 miles, then after another 50 or so the midsole was pretty worn away so there was like no cushioning left. Also to me they felt a little squishy underfoot.
The best lightwieght trainer with a little stability that i ever tried was the Puma Heras II. felt great on, cushioning and outsole seemed to last longer than any other shoes ive had, just right in terms of weight and firmness of cushioning. Sadly Puma doesnt make anything quite like it now and you can't find them anymore.
