I just returned from the Oregon State HS XC championships and Galen Rupp looked strong. He ran 14:54, but I am sure he could have gone a few seconds faster if he had been pushed. He did not sprint across the line. The course is challenging and not fast. I ran on it and I would say that is at least 10 seconds per mile slower than on a track. Galen went throught the mile in 4:42 and two-mile in 9:32. He rans smoothly and steadily throughout. He is is the real-deal!
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
