Just got the new Nimbus. It is quite soft (I guess it is just like the IX, nothing changed - except a little bit wider toe box). If you liked the Nimbus IX, you will most probably like the X, otherwise, stay away from them.
I normally run in less cushioned shoe, but from time to time, if I feel need more cushion for a day or two, I will switch to them - about 2-3 times per month.
what do you switch with?
Got the Nimbus and like it. Good cushioning and quite comfortable. I was running with lighter Brooks Axioms for a while, but they weren't providing enough support for the middle of my foot. I think I'll switch back for workouts on grass in XC.

the folks i've talked to that tried it on say the forefoot fit is much different than the IX - so much that the sizing may be different for some
I think the fit on the new Cumulus is much better it also has no lump in the front of the shoe that some people experinced in the last model.
Sort of.
Shoe companies are in the business of selling shoes, ergo they market the product to sell to as many people as possible.
I was never a good runner, sub-6-pace in races on a good day, as I never got much beyond 50MPW as I always trained too fast. If I had it to do over again, I'd NEVER wear a watch in training.
I was viewing the '60 and '64 Olympic marathons and was impressed by the fact that guys ran wearing what amounted to bowling shoes.
Wow. I thought I was the only one who observed that. What I found impressive were the images of the feet of the men who finished AFTER the top 5 at Tokyo.
Ouch.
What was also interesting were that there were African who finished in notso-hotso shape outside the top 10.
Call me a conspiracy theorist.
