Classic race between 2 guys I believe will compete for top 5 spots at footlocker championship. Gavin Coombs edged out Amhed Haji (8th last year at footlocker) by a foot. They were neck and neck the whole race.

Have a link to results?
Was it at Wickham Park? How fast did they run?
No Link as this just happened I believe time was 15:20's but not a very good view of clock. It was at wickham where last week Haji ran 15:20 to set course record.
Also windy day with course pretty wet from prior days rain. Not as good as the conditions for last weeks class meets.
how'd everyone else do in the race? who was 3-10 or so and what were their times, also, who won the team battle? new milford i assume?
Damn that's fast...I did my high school running in CT...the fastest time I ever saw someone run was 15:40ish....
Kid from Ellington was 3rd at least 20-30 seconds back. Looked like tight team battle but I couldn't stay to watch had to run back to work, I think Manchester may have pulled the upset. But that is a guess it was pretty close between them Ledyard and New Milford
ZAPFitness coach Peter Rea held the course record of 15:32 (he ran it in 86 at the Wickham invite) until Haji broke it.
Those two and Ben True from Maine all have a shot at top 5 at FL finals. Obviously there isn't room for all of them in there though.
In last week's divs. a kid named Jacob Edwards won the "s" category. His grandfather is John J. Kelley - won Boston in '57. He was to be running today.
and can't not add victor gras of massachusetts in that group
Think link will show here:
wow, I can't believe Coombs won. After Haji's 15:20 last week I thought he had it easily. 2 guys from CT running 15:20s on that course is amazing. I think Haji and maybe Coombs will definitely be top 5 come Nationals. Haji is so much faster than last year when he was 8th.
Any more details on the race?
It looks like a great year all over. The finals will be blazing.
They were together the whole race coming up the hill Combs was slightly ahead. Haji passed him and Coombs was able to surge past Haji at the line. By the way I think Pete Rea ran 15:36 and that record was broken in 2000 by Brian McGovern.

nah the record was 15:32 and rea still had it up untill last weekend
Could be your right about Rea's time I'm not sure. I do remember that race he ran all alone in seeded race winning easy. He ended up losing at open to J.T. Burke a unexpected winner over both Rea and defending open champ Chuck Kitteradge.
should make for an incredible NE regional at VCP, as PA is will be serving up its best overall crop of XC guys in a long, long time. some really solid runners from the NE are not gonna be making the trip to FLF when it's all said and done.
New milford won the team race with 88 points....but some of their guys had a bad race. Coombs ran a 15:21...Haji was 15:22
