Oh snap
A 10,000 WR on U.S. soil? At Hayward Field? It doesn't get any better than that!
HOLY CRAP!
I never thought a morning race (9:30am in this case) was optimal. Maybe its just me, but every single one of my best track races were at night. Early races just dont feel natural for all out efforts.
Hopefully it works for him
I heard Teg likes running in the morning. Maybe they are trying to entice him into racing Kenny B!

Somebody needs to spit on that PED user at Pre.
Huh????
This is great. It's always cool to see big names run the American races. A WR attempt is even better.
I'll take the bait: Teg no run 10k.
should rupp skip the hengelo 10k and race bekele a week or 2 later so rupp can try to break rono's 27.22 10k record by tryining to hang with bekele as long as possible.
are you kidding? won't bekele be running something like 63/64sthat is close to rupp's pr in the mile; has he run a 2 mile that fast?

If by close you mean 8-12 seconds, give or take, off of Rupp's PR, then you are right.
If he breaks the WR, I hope Phil Knight is waiting at the finish with a little "sumtin-sumtin", or a stack of American currency with plenty of pictures of dead US presidents inside a Nike shoe box, know what I'm saying, bro?!?

maybe rupp cant run 63-64 per lap, but he is scheduled to race in hengelo against guy almost as good as k. bekele, in hengelo is eliud kipchoge, boniface kiprop, haille gebreselassie and about a half dozen more who have gone sub 27 for 10k, rupp wont win hengelo and he wont beat k. bekele, but is he can run about a half second faster per lap than he did last year, he could challenge rono's 30 year ncaa record. i figure its better to do that in oregon where people care how he does, then in hengelo, where people will be going to the concession stand after geb finishes.

It should be singularly the greatest 10K ever run on June 8th at Hayward Field.
First sub 27 run on US soil.

It wouldn't count as a collegiate record anyway because he is not enrolled as a full time student or representing his university this season.

I seem to recall a year or two ago people saying that Eugene's glory days were over, it was living in the 70's and that it was no longer track town USA?
This was after Vin had been elected and his mission statement released.

Granted I have no idea where KB is currently training or where he will be in the days leading up to this race, but keep in mind that when it's 9:30 a.m. in Eugene, it's 7:30 p.m. in Addis Ababa, and late afternoon/early evening in much of Europe.
This is AWESOME for distance running in the US. Having a distance record set on American soil could get some press, and get people revved up going into Trials season.
