Race is Sunday (women at 11:30am, men at noon). Results usualy show up at:
Also probably at:
The race went off an hour ago, where the f are the results?
Kelly wins and Webb runs second. Webb's time just under 24 minutes. Kelly won by at least 20 seconds.
I'll tell you what. If he ran just under 24min, it might not be world beater, but it's something.
Kelly won by alot in 23:18 or 23:19. I believe Webb was around 23:50-55 and Paul Mwangi was 3rd. Kelly passed 5k in 14:37, Webb and Mwangi were 14:54.
The first mile went out hard, Kelley passed in around 4:30, Webb was back in 3rd or 4th in 4:32. No one was really in contact with Kelly after 2 miles.
Kelly was about 23:20, maybe a few seconds better. Webb was high 23s. Karl Savage went through the mile mark with Kelly, then fell apart. Paul Mwangi was third, strong finish but could get Webb. John Mortimer ran pretty solid, got fourth I think in close to 24 flat.
whats the course like?
Webb ran away from Mwangi. They traded places back and forth several times during the race before Webb put the hammer down and pulled away the last mile. Webb looked good and finished strong. He definitely didn't extend himself 100% today.

It's pretty fast. No serious hills, wide-open. I think it's actually 7,935 meters, so 12 or 13 seconds slower than a true 8K.
I hope Webb is going to do some 4K XC this year. It would help him later.
Does anyone have any deeper results...top 10 men and women
Team results?
come on...Ryan Bak ran 23:59 there...its something, but its not a good something.
Yeah its a decent result, but what happened to the Web from michigan that ran 23:19 on a similar course, that Web would have gone with Kelly and tried to beat him. Ritz would have been about 23:10 on that course off a few 50 mile weeks and 1 or 2 at 85. Thats a lot farther ahead of Web than he used to be and he's had a hell of a lot more problems.
Let the crucifixion begin.
I talked to Webb on Saturday at Franklin Park and I asked him if he was doing that as a training run, or if he was going all out, and this is what he told me: "im going all out, as always"
I dunno what the top runners do the day before a race but i saw Webb running for at least 45 minutes (i didnt time it and when i got there he was already running) and he was doing pick ups.
I dont know if this is old news but, Razcko told me that Richard Smith went Pro and is running with Alberto Salazar at Oregon because he didnt do too well at school for the first two years in HS.
Webb and Razcko were pretty cool, I talked to Webb for about 10 minutes then he took off to do his plyometrics then Razcko was just there, Razcko is an odd fellow.
You people are wrong in trying to crucify him. No one knows what the conditions were like and Bak is a 4 minute miler whose turned into more of a long distance type. If webb can beat his time by 5 or 10 seconds that says something decent if not good. I'm not praising webb and not bashing him, just saying you guys are a little off base with the bashing. I highly doubt ritz would have been 23:10 on that course or even if he would have beaten kelly. Afterall, kelly does have several years of training on top of his NCAA XC champion form. Ritz has only ever proven that he's been what? 4th in NCAAs. You can swing from his jock if and when he wins ncaas this year but his still got some time to make up on hall, kangogo, and others. Its a start for webb and an above average one at that. In this olympic year he seems to be progressing at the right pace and getting ready to run fast when it counts.
Hall? he might be top 15 but i dont see him winning it.
The tone of my first comment: disgusted cynicism. I rarely tear into someone--and when I do its almost always in defense of someone else. AW has had a hard time. This was a good race for him. Well done I say and I hope he has the type of season he desires this year and that the vampires don't get to him.
good for richard for going somewhere. he had the opportunity to go to junior college. just didn't take it. tried to take his boards again so he could run at a d-1 college this fall and didn't get it done. super nice kid. hopefully, he'll do well out there and be successful.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
