who cares about d-III it's just a bunch of garbage runners with garbage lives
who's with me on that???
General Patton, I am faster than you. If you want to talk trash, start your own thread.
My pick for national champ is Moen. He is peaking at the right point of his collegiate career.
For the teams, it's going to come down to the two "money" teams in November, North Central and Calvin.

Yeah, like Missy Buttry, she's definitely a garbage runner. (Please note my extreme sarcasm). There are plenty of very good D3 runners in cross country and track...ones that can beat a lot of D1 runners.
hey I know...lets have the same argument again for the 100th time
no one ever listens to me but i will say it again. that frikkin macharria yuot is a badass who will probably challenge for the national title. he is making a mockery of our region.
I don't think Yuot will run away with it so much as to make a mockery of the region, though he certainly looks like the favorite for the race. He hasn't raced Gleason yet, or E-Town's Sanko, both of whom have been laying low. Has anyone heard any results from the Haverford Invitational? Did Widener run Yuot there?

Since today is the first time I've been to this message board, I haven't been a part of any previous arguments about this topic. And I was simply responding to your post with my opinion.
I am with you, is that really you dudley?
I actually agree that DIII is a joke. BUT I have a reason for my opinions, not just hate.
he crushed gleason at the desales meet. but then, a lot of guys did that day. btw, people overlook the fact that gleason's coaching puts him at a distinct disadvantage to the other two guys.

gleason used desales as a tempo to learn the course for the mac championships. he still finished 11th. he won a meet at bucknell and placed second at spiked shoe. i think it comes down to him and sanko from etown. etown looks like the favorite for the conference and top team in the region.
I don't understand why people feel the need to use threads like these to rip on DIII runners. It would be one thing if the thread were about the validity of DIII running. Instead, people are simply throwing out predictions about nationals. It is quite obvious that DI is superior to DIII, but there are still tons of kids with a huge time and emotional investment in DIII running. Because of that it is natural to want to discuss it. If all you want to do is talk about how slow we are, make your own thread about that and make fun of DIII all you want. As for my picks, I think it will be Mclean taking the individual title and North Central with the team title.
Sanko has shown that he can run fast from time to time, but he comes and goes. We haven't heard from him in quite a while. E-Town may be surprised at the conference - they've hardly raced this season and it's all been away. But I don't think Sanko can handle Gleason or Yuot right now. And it's true that Gleason was messing around at DeSales.
I'll tell you why it's a joke. There are freshman kids out there competing for DIII institutions that are coming of 14 ACT scores. No initial eligibility... more scholarship money than many DI programs (non-scholarship my ass)...plain and simple no rules.
I watched a hs meet here in Ohio this weekend and a DIII coach was standing in the frickin' chute passing out flyers to runners as the came in. It's worse than the NAIA.
Its only the cleanest, most true to the game group of runners out there. There's kids putting into it everything they can - not for the scholarship money [its not as bad as you say], not for the glory of winning D1, and not because they have nothing else to do - into the sport.
Its as honest as the sport is going to get these days. Here when everyday a new name pops up on the "dirty" list. Yes, they drug test in D3. Have you ever heard of someone getting busted?
Its like single A baseball. No one pays attention to it, no one cares, but it keeps producing stars. The players who weren't good enough for AAA - you know, the best salaries without being in the pros, but they're ALmost there - they land in the D3 schools. Most of um fall through the cracks. Then when they dont, everyone is glad for single A ball because otherwise the guy would have given up after high school.
that is a very misguided statement. while some of the d-3 programs may struggle to field teams, hence the fliers. for the large part, the runners are above average high school runners who want to continue running. this same scholarship money you speak of is usually from academic or merit aid. i would say that the instances of an athlete with a 14 act score running or even maintaining elgibility are very rare. for the large part, d-3 schools are top-tier academic schools. most are private, liberal arts with prestigious academic reputations. i myslef know many d-1 runners who would never gain admittance at such institutions. wouldn't be interesting if someone did a study comparing composite test scores and level of improvement/success in each division. then we could see who really received the best education and best coaching or athletic experience.
I have a Northeast bias, and I don't intend to diss any other teams, but I want to show the prestigious academic standards of D3 programs.
The following are top tier academic institutions. I am positive I am missing some important ones.
Williams
Amherst
MIT
Tufts
Bowdoin
Middlebury
Bradeis
Bates
Colby
Pomona
Kenyon
University of Chicago
Washington University
D3ers, help me out!
I agree with the person who said that D3 athletics is pure... I totally agree. Most D3 athletes run because they love running. They are self-motivated, and many are very talented. The atmosphere at the meets is amazing, and it's awesome to be friends with people from different teams... it's a wonderful competitive experience.
in response to Black, that is the most pathetic wrong thing i've ever heard about d3 running.. getting money to run d3? Ain't gonna happen. Its the athletes in D3 who do it simply because they love it and many are just as dedicated to running as those D1 athletes.
I am running at a D3 school, and if i had ran maybe more than 1 year in highschool, I would have been recruited more and at a D1 program. However, now that I have improved and take running very seriously , I am still at a fine D3 school and wouldn't leave for the life of me.. I could easily fit into a d1 school and have success, but i am content at the school i originally chose and don't want to leave my friends, my teammates, or coach and area of academics fits great . It just pisses me off when people have to talk down about D3, b/c I don't take it any less serious than ANY d1 runner for that matter. I live to run. So respect what division I run for.
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
