How many workouts a weeks is best? Do long runs count?
Ideally/average 2 workouts every Tuesday and Thursday, comprising a mixture of tempos, hills, track reps, fartlek and the compulsory long run 12-15 miler on Sunday. Rest of week steady mileage with as much recovery/rest as possible.
