For XC season I bought a pair of Nike Kennedys and they worked fine. But when I wear them for the mile/2 mile on the track my feet really hurt.I own a pair of Brooks Mach 8s and my feet never hurt, so my question is what is a good pair of spikes that have good cushioning like the Brooks?

That doesn't mean your feet should hurt after a track race. If you have a good pair of spikes that suit you well, your feet will feel fine after racing. As far as "most comfortable," I've liked the Nike Zoom Forever XC for track races. Yes, it's an xc spike, but its lighter than most other spikes (even most track spikes!) and is really comfortable. I did an indoor 5k on an extremely hard track and my feet didn't complain at all.
Puma Harambee's are the best distance spikes of all time. Can be used on the track or XC course...
