As someone stated dmso will take anything that is on the skin where it is applied with it and saturate your foot to the bone within minutes. This means germs, as well as, what you mix with it.
I have used it on my hunting dogs with great success for snake bite swelling or any other type of swelling as in the joints.
Recently I incurred my first running injury and have been
at it three years. I got disgusted and started reserching dmso uses in animals and humans. I found alot of good reports and some not so good on using it in humans.
I choose to use it. My injury is in my calf, so i shaved my lower leg, scrubbed it with betadine, then washed the area with rubbing alcohol and sat a minute. I have found the best way to applie is by liquid in a spray bottle that was sterilized also. Use sreril gloves and rub alcohol on them just in case. Now I spray the affected area and I use the liquid 99.9% pure that I use on my hounds. After spraying it on I massage the spots that hurt for awhile..I let it stay on there ten minutes then I go wash it off with water first then antibacterial soap two or three times.
It's job has been done in probably five mins or less but so washing it off is a safety precaution so that nothing bad gets on the site and is taken into your body.
Your question was what form....the liquid works for me and I must note, they are dogs but we never clean our dogs at all before we spray it on them and have never seen anything but positive signs.
But considering the fact that dmso will have saturated the part of your body you spray it on within a minute I am not taking any chances on myself or any other human being.
The Russians have been using it for years on humans for arthritis, and other injuries.
Even here in the good ol USA it is the chemical that organs that are to be transplanted are kept in. Also there are several diseases that they will give paitents IV DMSO.
Do a search yourself on dmso and its uses in humans.
The worst side effect I have seen is the minute you spray it on your breath is going to smell something like garlic but worse. A buddy at work told me he can smell mine ten feet away and that it stinks. It last for hours and the wife won't sleep in the same bed with me now.
I have been applieing it like every twelve hours..and it kills my pain in ten or fifteen minutes and last about five hours or so.
It is an awesome anti-inflammatory agent but alot of controversy surrronds it in use on humans...yet they will do it at the hospital.
I suggest not running when the pain subsides from the DMSO, I myself am going to do it a week then try a short run but after the Dmso has worn off.
Good luck and brushing your teeth won't stop the smell and don't be suprised if you see smoke or a fog come off your body when you applie it. If there is really something bad that can happen to us by it short term use probably won't matter.
Like I said earlier I have been using it on my foxhounds for years and thought it was working but when i put it on my self I found out how good it actually is working.
I wouldn't mix anything with it unless you could get cortisone, though I have mixed things in it on dogs.
The reason being is dmso is already a very good antiinflammatory agent and it kills pain also....I know this for fact now.
