Holly smokes! This girl can turnover, made me dizzy watching. 15:47 at the Mizzou track tonight with what seemed like a sub 5:00 first mile. Not the most ideal racing conditions. Someone to watch for sure.

yeah she's got some quick legs. i have fond memories of watching her run the middle legs of the 4x4 in HS, splitting ~60s. Pretty rock solid.
Serena's about 210 strides/minute. She split 4:57, 10:01, 15:09, and then 15:47. It was in the low 40's and she won by a minute (lapped 3rd place). It was a pretty impressive performance. 15:47 and 1:12:20 a few months ago, she's really developing well.
Was trying to catch her after the meet but couldn't. Wondering if she'll race at any of the upcoming Missouri meets.
I was able to track her down. No, I don't think she's going to run any other races in Missouri this year. This was more of a workout race for her. The 5k is too short for her speed. She's focusing on the 10k this year. This was just a case of getting a race under her belt before she goes after a good 10k.
"workout race"? its usually one or the other. judging by her splits i would say it was a race with how hard she went out followed by a slow fade at the end.
Yes, workout race. It can be both. She raced it, but it was more like a workout for her than necessarily a race. Having the juco national xc champ in town afforded her the chance to hop in the race and get a good quality effort in. Unfortunately, Cheriyout (sp?) wasn't able to last past a 1000.
