So why does anyone think he's funny? What is his comedic specialty? Any examples of him being funny .... ever?
Next question: Who the f*** is Dane Cook?

yeah, he's really not that funny. he just yells and makes sex jokes. that's the sign of a lousy comedian for sure--if they can't think of quality material, they make a sex joke because if you don't laugh at a sex joke, then you're just a prude. it's a cop out really.

people are too much
First it was cool and hip to think Dane Cook was funny. Then everyone thought he was funny and jumped the shark. But, too many people thought he was funny, and everyone couldn't like the same person, so everyone jumped the ship.
Dane's funny, maybe not the "funniest" but you can't sit there and not laugh at a show of his. Part of what he does is showmanship.
Keep telling yourself that you're an "individual" and hate the status quo of thinking Dane Cook's funny, voting for Barack Obama, drinking Sam Adams, going to church, jogging, and "sell out" bands.
It's so funny watching all of you people try to prove you're an individual by telling everyone else they're wrong rather than making your own spot. Good job tools.
Props to the poster above me.
I fully agree.
So WHEN was Dane Cook supposed to be "hip and funny"? I haven't seen any proof of it. What about his act even evokes a smile if not a laugh?
ok, so i agree with your post above on stupid people who go against the grain and call themselves enlightened, but i honestly never liked Dane Cook. just for the record...

He cooks Danes. Like Lars von Trier. Or Brigitte Nielsen. Or Hamlet.
He was not as funny as he was made out to be, but he's not as unfunny as he's now being made out to be.
People miss Mitch Hedberg.
Remember when people thought Tom Rhodes was funny. For, like...a week?
Please dude.
I first heard about Dane Cook from my little brother and his girlfriend, who thought he was "so funny, and hot!" (brother did not say he was hot)
I saw his comedy show as I was browsing through the channels on HBO one night. It was about to start, so I decided to watch it. I watched for a solid hour. I couldn't come unglued from my TV. I could not, and still can not understand why anyone would find anything he says remotely amusing. I was thinking "surely he's going to say something somewhat funny at somepoint."
But he didn't. Next time I saw him, I told my brother he was a fruit for thinking Dane Cook was any good. I'm 25, and I don't know one other 25 year old that isn't a complete popped collared queer bait that thinks Dane Cook is anything less than the worst comedian to ever live. Okay I'm done now.

I think you're reading way too much into the two posts before yours.
Dane Cook was funny before he became mainstream. I remember listening to him about 6 years ago and thinking, "This dude is pretty funny." After that, his material went to shit.
A pity.
I'd like to add one more thing. Dane Cook is the Nickelback of comedy. So I guess if you like Nickelback and wear a pink polo over a white polo with both collars popped, then you probably will like Dane Cook.

I'm glad you see my point
Everyone's so concerned about image that they'll tear other people down to make their own. Cook's funny, so are alot of comedians. You're so concerned with not liking something that you're unwillingly to like anything that looks or sounds the same. Good job at showing us how much of a tool you aren't cause you don't wear pink polos.
You my friend are the anti-tool tool. You know, your friend that's against all the "queer" and "mainstream" stuff. Go listen to some of the Shins or w/e the new band is that "no one's discovered yet".
I will agree that Dane's early stuff was way better than what he has now, but he's still medium funny now.
I understand why some people hate him. I don't understand why some people love him so much. I know several people who have his CD(s) and listen to them over and over and laugh every time. I think most of it isn't very funny, but some of it is.
I don't really understand why you guys have such strong opinions about the guy. What's funny to some isn't funny to others. People have different senses of humor. If you don't like him, don't watch or listen to him. I'm gettting tired of Will Ferrell, but it doesn't really bother me that he's still making movies. Most of you guys need to stop being such whining bitches and grow up.
I have always disliked Dane Cook. It is possible to not laugh. I watched the first 15 minutes of his stand up special (the one where he is in a big circle stage with a bunch of people, and didn't even smile once. At that point I gave up and changed the channel.
I still think Dane Cook's stand up is funny, there ya go. His movies however are terrible.
The only person less funny than Dane Cook is Tim Allen.
I think Dane Cook is funny. He's not the funniest guy in the world or anything, but I can always count on a good laugh or two from him. I think it makes you a good comedian if you're able to zero in on a particular demographic(16-20 year olds) and capitalize on them. He's very successful. Thinking someone is funny depends solely on a person's opinion, and nothing else.
the Toyota prius is the barack obama of cars
I think his old material (Harmful If Swallowed, Comedy Central special) is pretty funny. But if you watch his new material, its seems like he no longer actually tries to come up with jokes. Instead he just runs around stage using "funny" voices and phrases. I'll put it this way: his old material had his wacky personality and jokes. His new material is just his wacky personality taken to an extreme level to make up for the lack of actual jokes.
