The guy made a mistake, served his time according to the rules and is back at it. If he tests positive again, then I agree with being very harsh.
Every good result will arouse suspicion now. He should be tested daily until the olympics qualification deadline. The sport is in danger of becoming a joke!
He took the EPO knowing he was cheating, how can that be a mistake? He is a CHEAT. All cheats should be banned for life.

More to follow later along with results

His "mistake" was in getting caught.

Come on, it's something I hope he regrets so I would consider it a mistake. Most people make mistakes that they know full well are wrong but hopefully they realize later on that it was wrong to do it and was a MISTAKE! Can you tell me that you have never done something that at the time you knew was wrong but still did it anyways then later realized it was stupid?
those were great photos. that is real cross country! did you see the mud pit and the obvious suction of it, that took a few shoes off the runners for sure. did you see the pic of the one guy (a good runner), running with one shoe? Lombard pushed the pace the whole way and gradually dropped Cragg. did you notice the smirky smile on Craggs face when he is about to step into the deep mud?
He was studying to be a doctor, he knew everything about EPO, he said it was an experiment all the more reason it was wrong, on 2 accounts Athlete and Doctor, he let both proffessions down. Scum bag. NO MISTAKE! Lombard is a CHEAT
Vinny looks very pissed off in the photos afterwards.
Looks like this came down to who the best mudder was... so I can believe a Lombard defeating Cragg... just take a look at USATF XC Club Nationals. Great runners in the back of the pack due to the mud.
Deal with it.
Today was pure and simply all about the person who was able to handle the tough conditions the best. Having spoken to Alistair after the race he freely acknowledged that Cathal was much more effective through the muddy parts than he was. Alistair was able to close the gap on the flat but mentally it was tough on him for the gap to be coniinually extended again through the mud.
Craggs running style does not suit the mud, he has often been beaten by guys who he routinely beats on the track.
Drug Cheat Bekele would crush both of them.
Cragg looks pretty haggard in those post-race photos. Either he's aged a lot in the last year or he was out partying the night before. Or he just finished a race. Yeah. It's probably the last one.

He is/was a solicitor (http://www.irishrunner.com/cathal03.html). Are you thinking of someone else, maybe Marius Bakken?
A good story on the race. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/athletics/7273244.stm
What sort of reception did he get from the crowd? I hope the athletics community gave him very frosty treatment.
