No, you will not freeze to death. Cover your hands, feet and head well and you will be fine. The only way I would say its dangerous is if you ran outside in shorts and a tank top. You would probbably get good frostbite but i bet you could still finish a 10 miler.
Yes, your lungs can freeze.
Go to an emergency room and tell them your lungs may have frost bite, then go buy a treadmill for any temperature under 50 degrees.
Dress warm and you'll be fine. Weather is similar here and I've been wearing my tights (sometimes with fleece pjs over if very windy), short sleeve T, under-armor turtleneck, windbreaker, gloves, hat (that covers ears completely), and when needed, a scarf. I hate running with the scarf, but I find that not only does it keep my face warm, but it prevents me from having that cold weather hacking cough for the rest of the evening. Good luck to you. It's 3 out here and I am not looking forward to my chilly run later :)
Never wear a scarf if you are a male. You will be laughed at, go with a shirt that has a high collar/ turtle neck but never a scarf. This is common sense. Also chick you wear you pjs out on a run? I guess it makes going home and back to sleep easy but those sheets need to be cleaned.
10 degrees is not bad at all, I run in that all the time. Under armour is a life saver, i just wear heavy turtleneck under armour, a couple tshirts, and a light fleece. I would say anytime the wind chill is above -10 it is fine to run.
just wear layers- long sleeve t shirts, weatherproof wind/rain jacket, tights, hat and gloves, glasses if needed.
Or run up the stairs of local apartment block.Or run up multi storey car park and sprint along each floor level.
If all else fails get on the treadmill with high incline for 30 mins- Never give in to elements or make excuses for getting in the workouts!

What kind of pussy talk is this?
You think runners in Minnesota and Canada do this? Think again, wuss.
Instead of a scarf, or a turtle neck. Wear a bandanna around your mouth! like the coyboys of old
Your dick can freeze. It happened to me once. Below zero. Had only one layer on. It was one of the most painful things. It swelled up bigtime too, scared the shit out of me. Tomorrow I have to drop my car and have to run while they check it out. I won't be able to make it to the indoor track. The temps will be in the single digits with a stiff wind which is the killer. Not looking forward to that one.
The penis thing is funny, I wish I could say mine was swollen but sometimes I think it will freeze and fall off like an ice cycle.
Underarmor seems to keep my winky warm though!!
if you live in an area where its windy and cold, a wind brief is essential men..
I find the wind is a big factor in how I dress in the cold..most days as long as its in the 20's i can run in a base layer and thin 1/4 zip fleece..some fit-dry pants and a good hat/gloves..with the wind I need to add more of a jacket type of top..
A freezin weenie is the most pain ever. Especially when you're a couple miles out and really can't get back too quickly. Even trying to warm it up (yes, by touching yourself) when you get back burns.
A pair of running briefs with the wind panel is the single best piece of cold weather equipment I have purchased in the last 2 years. I wear them under my tights and that is all the protection I have needed on long runs well under 20 degrees. Keep the wiener warm and your legs seem to stay warmer.
11 degrees, for me that's brooks HVAC gloves, pair of running pants with compression shorts under, heat gear underarmour long sleeve with a dry fit long sleeve shirt.
I actually start to sweat and get too warm during the run. As you would guess, when I run in 80 degree weather, it feels like 110.
8 miles in 5 degree weather today...no problems because I dressed appropriately. gloves, hat, long sleeve dri fit top under goretex jacket & regular running shorts and sporthill bottoms. oh yeah, and you can't forget the "weiner warmer" (i.e. washcloth). as long as the wind chill stays above 30 below you should be OK.
Living in Canada if I didn't run when it was below 10C I wouldn't get any training in for nearly 3 months!
Honestly though, dress warm and always dress in LAYERS. If you run in this weather on a regular basis you'll acclimate very quickly.
my team ran in -17 degree weather yesterday for 6 miles and one of my temmates passed out...he was dressed warm too
lol
