I'm not sure that that has anything to do with whether he heel strikes or not.
what a poof
Nice work considering that's not a wetsuit.
Say what you want, but he ran a 2:59 which is more than most of the 'stone throwers in glass houses' on this board can say.
Yeah, well that's only because over the past few years this board has become more and more infected with lackluster pedestrians who should stick to RW or RT forums. A sub-3 marahon is nothing, it doesn't require breathe right strips or compression gear or racing flats.
'A sub-3 marahon is nothing'
The 99.99% of marathoners who finish in 3hrs + may disagree w/ you on that. World class? Hardly. Nothing? Not so sure about that speedy.
How 3:00+ marathoners feel about it is irrelevant. It's not a great feat for a sub-masters male with no health issues. sub-2:45, maybe, but not sub-3:00. It was nothing big when people were doing it as a matter of routine in the '80's and people today are not physiologically any different, though clearly there are mental differences, as exemplified by your post.
Nothing big to you? OK.
Nothing big to the VAST majority of the running population? False.
Actually what the 3hr+ maarthon thinks is very relevant since they comprise the overwhelming majority of the event. Following your logic, if we polled the marathon winners of all the majors and asked them what is an impressive performance, you're PR's would count as much those 'slow' 3+hr finishers. May want to step down off that self-appointed podium.

So what? The vast majority of any population is mediocre.

No, not really. That's like asking the vast majority of people what constitutes a "good" education.

No, that's your "logic", not mine, as it's idiotic. You assumed that I was speaking from the standpoint of my own performances as some sort of benchmark, and that was really incredibly dumb. Also, it's "your" not "you're" for the possessive sense.
Isn't that Jason Mayeroff? Looks like he bulked up a bit. Steroids?
Rock on! Why?
