wtf
wtf
duh, nike wants to absorb footlocker into NTN, but the people who run footlocker xc won't let 'em. So Nike quit footlocker. So the jerseys were eastbay which is owned by footlocker....
Who cares about "jerseys"??
Thought the uniforms were pretty cool and original. Foot Locker ought to come out with multi-colored, pinstriped uniforms.
Come on man, you and I both know that Footlocker is NOT a running store, hasn't been for quite some time, and probably never will be again. They found their niche, and it doesn't include serious runners. I don't see them sinking money into something they'll never sell. Footlocker Nationals was about the only think that they still did for runners. I honestly think Nike would be doing everyone a service to take the National individual championship and combine it with their event. There have been multiple examples of runners who were forced to choose between helping take their team to NTN and qualifying for Footlocker Nationals (Ben Johnson, top returner from 2006, and Hannah Davidson, a 3X qualifier for FLN both chose NTN over a shot at FLN this year). How does Footlocker support the running community outside of FLN?
The uniforms this year were Eastbay uniforms, by the way.
I was referring to the race itself, possibly teaming up with Eastbay/Adidas(?), to come out with a unique, pinstriped uniform for the qualifiers (~similar to Footlocker's logo). Not that Footlocker or Eastbay has to sell the uniform to the masses, although I would imagine if they did that every kid runner in America would want one. And if you happened to miss it on the front page, Footlockers isn't going anywhere:
They are teamed up with eastbay... it's footlocker's online partner.
And Adidas is definitely not going to be in any mood to help them out after Footlocker switched to Nike sponsorship. C'mon.
What are you thinking? Gee let's take the race that has over 20 years of tradition and just make it bend over for NIKE because they decided to enter the game and throw a wrench in the athlete's schedule. Where do you get off making Footlocker the bad guy here? Where are your loyalties? Who cares if footlocker isn't as big into the running market as NIKE is? I still appreciate the fact that they continue to put on a really incredible event every year despite the fact that running isn't their top market segment.
NIKE is free to play the game but I'd stick up for Footlocker's stake any day.
Kinney to Footlocker to Nike. In the end Nike has too much money.
