Two females won the marathon prediction contest! That's awesome.

What I found funny was that despite Olympians, American record holders, NCAA champions, people who have been running for 40+ years, etc. who visit LetsRun regularly and follow running closely, an 8th grade girl soccer player who doesn't even run wins the contest. I couldn't stop laughing when I read that. It's like the woman at work who picks the basketball teams in the NCAA tournament by which mascot she like best or what color the teams wear and then ends up winning the pool.
I'm actually kind of glad that she doesn't read this website. Some things posted here are certainly not for 8th grade eyes and would probably screw her up for life.
SHE GOT LUCKY PLAIN AND SIMPLE.
I guess it doesn't matter if you are male, female, fast or slow. Anyone that follows the sports closely can pick well...

a) I won the 2004 OT Prediction Contest and never got my prize.
b) I'm a female.
c) Good on that PE teacher for trying to excite kids about running; we need more people like him.

I assume you're joking but if you really did win the contest and didn't get your gift certificate please email me.

I'm not saying that that poster isn't a sore loser, but you can't deny that contests of this nature rely on quite a bit of luck. Regardless of who won, the winner would have had to have been pretty darn lucky. But congratulations to the winner. I think it's great!
Wejo--On the front page you mention a female winner "we have screwed over for three years." Might I suggest you phrase the point somewhat differently?

Quiet woman!
My oldest daughter finished in the top three of a large March Madness pool in two straight years, when she was in 6th and 7th grade.
the fact that she or anybody else did well in the contest does not mean that they are good at picking race winners.
if programmed a thousand computers to randomly pick ncaa brackets, would you say that the computer that won the pool is better at picking winners? i don't know, maybe you would, but i wouldn't.

Hey Einstein, the kid didn't submit thousands of random entries. She submitted one. Woudl you say that Bekele is also not good at winning races, he's just reeeeeeaaaallllyyy lucky?

LOL the comparison of Bekelee winning a race and someone picking out the winners of the US Olympic Trails is not a very good one.
Either way, many try to do it and only one succeeds. Because more people are trying to run fast than to win the online contest, I stuck a lot of extra letters in 'reeeealllllyyyy'.

More dogs are killed every year in South Korea, than women are born in Texas.
Thats SIGNIFICANT.
