My question is are their roads that go along most of the perimeter of the US? It seems like most roads would be north/south along the border actually crossing it instead of west/east.

Along the Canadian border there are small roads that you can find all over, but down along the Mexican border it is a little different, but still, usually a highway within 5-10 miles of the border.
Well, he should have it pretty good in New York, but good luck when he gets to Maine, especially this time of year....
I do hope his visa's valid. Wrong season to be Iranian and that close to the border.
terrorist!
Baluchi was running 19-hour days and covering 55 to 110 miles a day, depending on the roads and conditions.
...
I am averaging 48 to 55 miles a day," Baluchi said. "If the road is flat, it is better."
Either way, that's a lot of miles. Even 48 a day, day-after-day, seems like more than is possible.

Oh no! does Karno know about this feat of endurance? Will he counter by running the perimeter of Canada?

call me an america-hater if you want, but if he's our rep i'm rooting for iran.
He got the job of measuring for the fence: he's pushing a calibrated wheel. Probably underpaind.
This, I believe, is the single most impressive running accomplishment to take place in the last 20 days.
One of the most truly humble and genuine people I\'ve ever met. Much of the community just like running for what it gives us, but there are few I\'ve met who embody that as much as Reza, except maybe Sam Thompson. Hope he makes it through ok this time without injury.
him or THe so called man of the year (aka. dean karnazes).
Whoops! Get a life!
He WAS averaging 110, it says he slowed down after losing the rv that was following him
He has been alone on the road since, and the jogger has slowed his progress slightly.
