Why hasn't this already happened?
Where: Flagstaff, Eugene, or Boulder
Distance: 5k, 10k ??
Everyone run with a race # that has their screen name printed on it as well.
Massive post race party.

how about in Rome?
I will measure it and time it for free.
Good idea, but why not have it in a more central location, so that people from all over the country can come, like Memphis or Kansas city. And no, I live in Virginia, so I dont have a stake it in being in the middle of the country.
Austin or Dallas.
that would work, except the only people who want to go to Texas are people from Texas.
I mean, I'm from New Jersey, so I can't really talk, but still, bad call on having it in Texas.
I'd say somewhere outside Chicago would be your best bet, cheap flights, etc, then the postrace party could be in Chicago.
A lot of people live in Texas and the brojos are from there, whether or not they like to admit it. Plus, Texas is centrally located, so runners from both coasts have the same distance to travel. Most importantly, Texans know how to party (and I've been to NY and Chicago).
Logistics. It's not quite as easy to congregate in person
I'd make the trip out from the West Coast if it were in Austin, for any distance 5K or over. And I'd even offer rides to peeps along the way (only four seats in my car, though).

This raises the all important question, do you know how to party txRUNNERgirl?
TX would be among the worst choices to have it..far flight for most, crappy weather for running most of the year..
have it around a large scale event that others may already wish to travel to..
They couldn't afford Boulder and probably couldn't afford Eugene, either. Flag, maybe.
A race at altitude? DUMB.
The question is: Does txRUNNERgirl know how to party?
How about at the Trials in Eugene?

Sea-level is for sissies! I've run at altitude for 32 years, and it hasn't killed me. Ever heard of the Bolder Boulder? Elites run it every year. Why is a race at altitude "dumb"?
Oh, that's right - runners who train at altitude have an unfair advantage, whether the race is at altitude or at sea level. So, why race at all? Sea-level athletes don't stand a chance, at least from your point of view.
The "Hitler Youth Run for Israel". That fits Wejo's & Rojo's political quereness for Bush perfectly.

You could always pick a day, pick a distance, and let people race it where they can and then just merge the results (and age-grading too please).
But what about a t-shirt?
The reason for the location choices is this: Letsrun is the touchstone website for all that is running. You need to have the race is one of these "running mecca" cities.
It could turn into THE race or races.
