Does anyone know what is going on with Coach Weir? There is a save Coach Weir site up but it doesn't say what is going on. Does Stanford plan on firing him or something? Why, anyone know on here...

At Stanford, they don't like wops, Canadians, British, nor Germans, especially if they are black or das green.
your an idiot
is this the same bob weir the ex birchfield harrier in birmingham uk- great athlete- totally committed!
No, it's the same Bob Weir who did the stellar vocals on Sugar Magnolia and who is leaving the position to be part of yet another Grateful Dead Leftovers reunion tour. Actually, how could a Bay Area school not want a coach named Bob Weir, sounds like a perfect fit - or maybe Cal is a more natural fit.
Bump?? Anyone know anything? There has been some odd decisions in the Stanford athletic dept lately and I'm curious.

Clearly not a Stanfurd grad.
Not a Stanford grad but on top of things enough to notice the swimming coach was suspended by the AD last year and kept from coaching at NCAA Championships. Also noticed the odd recent hire for assistant coach in the golf dept. Some guy with no golf experience.
Yeah, it would be weird to get rid of Coach Weir, he has been there for such a long time and has had success. Wasn't just last year that one of his guys won the NCAA discus? Anyways, I guess no one really seems to know. It is all so very vague...
Don't be surprised if Vin Lananna doesn't bring Bob Weir up to join his staff at Oregon. The current throws coach, Lance Deal seems to be moving more and more into community relations/administration type work, especially involving the Olympic Trials and such. Weir and Lananna probably know each other well and he would be an excellent complement to Scottish born Stuart Togher who is a well-known coach of hammer throwers.
Just ordinary scandals as in any company, don't sweat it. Last year, the new AD brought in a replacement for Bob Vasquez (the former track/XC SID) and the new turkey never had a job as ASID at any school, not even as an intern. We had to reach him his job duties, and here he is the ASID for the #1 athletic staff in the entire NCAA. Year's ago, Don Shaw was the head Womens Volleyball coach and was forced to switch jobs to the nearly dead (less than a dozen DI teams) NCAA sport of men's volleyball in a face-saving move to keep his retirement after he and Olympian Logan Tom were discovered. Another day in the life at the farm.
Just why is Coach Weir's job in trouble? Who created the website?
If he is a winning coach he will stay.
I thought Stanford was a distance powerhouse.
Wait a min? I thought Coach Weir aka WORD was at Maryland?
"your an idiot"
-life is full of irony.
Edrick doesn't like coaches with any experience. He drove Dena Evans and Andy Gerard to quit. David Vidal and Jakki Bailey were hired right out of school. Maybe he'll hire Michael Robertson if Weir leaves.
I don't know if that really was Floreal who sent the link above regarding saving Weir's job... but does Floreal really make all the hiring and firing decisions? I find that hard to believe. I'm sure he has influence, but he's not calling the shots.
Stanford once again doesn't seem to be getting the most out of its runners and field men. The cross-country team performance this year was the worst in the history of the program. 17th? Get out of town... Clearly there needs to be some shake-up.
I know that when David Vidal was hired, or brought in, or whatever his situation was, there were some absolutely top-flight candidates for that position who never even got the courtesy of a reply to their applications. My suspicion is that they had to advertise the job (some sort of NCAA requirement, perhaps), but that they had no real money to pay anyone. Vidal's job -- and I'm only making an educated guess -- is probably paid at the graduate assistant level. Because otherwise I don't know why the Stanford Athletic Department, usually a class act, couldn't even respond to applications for a job they listed.
Now I see someone's having fun: Floreal, Payton Jordan, Brooks Johnson -- they haven't all logged in on this... My error.
Does Peter Tegen not have any experience? You are talking out of your a**e!
