14:54 Indiana's Mike Fouts beats unbeatable Chris Derrik. Shows the power of Indiana over Illinois!
On the girl's side Mike Durkin's niece Claire from Ohio beats the girls course record set by Melanie Fairchild!

I heard Derrick was cruising (Dyestat).
You'd have to at least entertain the thought after how bad he destroyed Fout's time (and the old course record) in Terre Haute.
Bump. Indiana.
While I hate making excuses, and Fout surely won...All the evidence points to the fact that Derrick is way better, and has two more important races the next two weeks. Makes sense to conserve a bit.
Melody Fairchild
Durkin is not related to Mike Durkin afterall. Her Dad is come kind of Physics teacher or something like that.
Have all these guys already decided where they're going to school yet?
If Derrick wasn't running to win, I can certainly understand why, as he would have had FLMW, NTN, and FLN in 3 consecutive weeks. Now 8 seconds back is a pretty small margin to be cruising, but maybe he is just that good. If I was in his shoes, I wouldn't want to go all out if I'm angling for a national championship, but I also wouldn't want to go into the big race with two halfhearted races under my belt.
Fout is going to Florida State.
Derrick is heading to stanford.

Conditions were much different when Derrick ran at Terre Haute compaired to when Fout did. It had rained all week prior to the Indiana state meet and if you have ever been to the Terre Haute course after a rain, you know it doesn't handle the water well. As a point of comparison, look at Drew Shields of Fishers High School. Shields ran 16:04 at the state meet (Fout was 15:31). At the NTN regional, Shields ran 15:31, over 30 seconds faster than the state meet. So, if Shields improved by over 30 seconds, it is plausible that Fout could have as well, which would put him right behind Derrick.
Both athletes stated that they were running just to make the squad Saturday. Neither went all out. Fout said when he saw the finish line he wanted to kick it in. Derrick said he could have responded but chose not too and gave big props to Fout for winning the race.
Btw, Derrick has not picked a college yet. He visited some east coast schools and Stanford is in the cards as well.
The top four guys at FLMW all looked comfortable finishing, which bodes well for the MW at Foot Locker Nats.
I was at the state meet in Terre Haute when Fout won....and all of the times were roughly 45 seconds slow due to the course being one big mud bog. Fout ran a 15:31, and he looked like he was jogging. In my opinion he could have jumped on the club car in front of him a few times....and the wheels were spraying him with mud! When Derrick ran on the course for the NTN.......the conditions were prime when he beat the course record. Let's not forget, Fout just won the Mid-East meet with a course record time one week prior to the Footlocker Regional. Mike Fout is for real.....and I enjoy the rivalry between Fout and Derrick. I hate to say it fellas, but the one to watch in the Footlocker Nationals is a guy named German Fernandez. He's had some smoking times!!

I don't care how many times you post it, Derrick can blow Fout out of the water.
winners dont settle for second.
Its a qualifying race. It does not matter if you finish a comfortable 2nd in your heat at the Olympics or Worlds or NCAA champs (think of Dix last year!). You run to maximize your chances for the race that counts. (I am not a Derrick fan, I have no dog in this hunt.)
