I believe this topic has come up here before...
Where you live/run, is it common for runners to acknowledge each other when passing in some form of a friendly greeting - either a smile, nod or wave?
Most places I've lived in Canada, most runners would do this. I was shocked, however, a few years back when I discovered that runners on the west coast (Vancouver/Victoria) are self-absorbed and ignore each other. I started a thread back then expressing my dismay, and learned that it's not actually that common for runners to wave at each other in many parts of the world.
So now I'm in Oslo, and yesterday (first daylight run) I passed many runners on a jaunt around a park. I'd say 5% of other runners made eye contact, and two or three people (out of maybe 200 runners I'd guess) returned my wave. I imagine most of the others thought I was some sort of nutter.
So.... where you live, do you acknowledge other runners, or ignore them? I wonder if there are strong regional trends, kinda like the whole pop vs. soda thing?
