outkicks dibaba
outkicks dibaba
Unbelivable. Defar has anexcellent kick and on any given day she can beat tirunesh.
I am happy about the integrity of the ethiopian athletes.. they could have sandbagged and shared the money... but they came out and competed hard..
Now they have to start running the 1500
can anyone confirm that, a sub 54 final lap?!
is that a typo 57.34 would seem a lot more reasonable.
Sorry but that can't be right. Bekele's last laps aren't always that fast.
o three seconds was added on to the overall time the clock stopped 3 seconds early. Last lap was 56 seconds. Still amazing though.
defar ran a 56.6 last lap last year when she outkicked t. dibaba and ran 1428, so 56.7 in a much slower race 1502 makes sense.
i am a litle bit unhappy and can`t understand why defar won the race. she could give her best friend the chance to win 125,000 USD. that`s too much money. i am sure the people in ethiopia will give the olymp.champ a hard time
On their recap of the meet, IAAF says 56.4 for Defar, 56.9 for Dibaba.
56.4/56.9!?! How fast could these ladies go over 800m & 1500m?
Very interesting isn't it?
If they were all running together with a lap to go, do you think that Ritz and Torres would be outkicked by these 2 ladies?
I find it very suspect that these 2 women can run so fast at the end of a 5/10k.
Why is it suspect...when they probably can run 14.10 with even splits. The first 4600 in a 14.30 race, basically no anaerobic activity, they are fresh.
53.74 is the split that the wcsn.com people had on their screen.
It's odd, I'm a 14.00 runner and I wouldn't back myself to be able to run a 56 last lap off a 15min pace, maybe a 60/61 but that would be my limit. It truly is amazing.....

that's because you're a slow white boy with minimal fast twitch muscles and a smaller achilles heel muscle

Well...they are fresh....the reason is subject to debate.
What makes you think they are friends??? They are not that's why Defar ran her heart out to beat Dibaba.

they said so in an interview recently - that they are like sisters off the track, but on the track, it's all for the win,
In the last meet, Defar did all the work and was taken down by Dibaba at the last 400m...I don't think they are "friends" when it comes to a race. It would be more disgraceful for Defar to hand the race to Dibaba just for the money.
If you were Dibaba and Defar came to you asking for a sum of money to ensure that Defar would not beat you how much money would you pay her? If I was Dibaba I don't think I would give Defar much more than $25,000 to ensure my win. How about you?
