A slight difference between the relevance of Mu's post and others is that Keely is her main rival and has just inherited her mantle as Olympic champion.
I agree. Keely said at the UK trials that she was gutted Athing fell at the US trials... It wouldn't surprise me if Keely has reached out to Athing directly to say this.
I guess she means Keely's paId her dues. Three silvers on the world stage before running the fastest time in the world, going in as favorite and delivering. Earned as opposed to gifted by fortunate circumstances etc.
In fact, that goes towards supporting the idea that Mu is being magnanimous as it implies that she thinks the fact she wasn't there doesn't detract from Keely's victory. She could have posted the equivalent of "Congratulations, to the Next gal".
How was it earned if one of the best in the world wasn't present? Seems like a backhanded compliment from Mu.
if the best in the world was not present, wouldn't the diss be that Keely's gold was NOT earned? the logical read is that Mu is saying she earned it fair and square, and shutting down anyone saying Keely only won because Mu wasn't there.
classy of Mu for sure.
been interesting to see Mu's Visa ads framed as like a comeback story. I'm sure that wasn't the plan when they sponsored her ahead of the games.
also saw that Mu is or was in Paris the past couple days, per her IG stories. wonder what she ended up doing and if she's racing. she's also been posting some workout pics recently. there's a women's 800 at the Lausanne DL 8/22... though after her last race I wonder if they'd let her in..
Athletissima est un meeting international d'athlétisme membre de la Wanda Diamond League, qui a lieu le vendredi 30 juin 2023 au Stade Olympique de la Pontaise.
Fresh from their Olympic gold medal victories in Paris, the USA' Quincy Hall and Cole Hocker and Sweden's Mondo Duplantis will return to Wanda Diamond League action when the series resumes in Lausanne later this month.
Seems like faint praise and that by saying "earned" she is validating anyone claiming that it was not earned. A simple "congrats!" would have been more sporting.

Best in the world? Mu didn’t even break 2 minutes in her last race. GTFO
