I’m not one for conspiracies, and I usually find most of you on this site crazy. But it just seems weird to me what’s been going on with the Jamaicans this year. Elaine is injury prone, fine. Shelly is old now, fine. And Shericka didn’t come into this year looking good (was slightly above goal weight, then lost it, maybe she was rushing fitness too much and got hurt).
But the circumstances under which Shelly pulled out of the semi finals yesterday and her Instagram statement which is literally 2 paragraphs explaining nothing, worried me. And now Shericka pulls out too. Tbh the Shericka part actually isn’t that surprising but I really want some proper explanations for Shelly because all I could think was she failed a test and they told her she can’t run but didn’t publicise it because it would be terrible for the sport.
I don't think you need elaborate conspiracies to explain why a trio of veteran sprinters on the wrong side of 30 are all dealing with injuries.
I'm with you that Shelly-Ann's statement was a little weird, but Jamaican coaches reported her knee injury flared up and the timing doesn't make sense for it to be a drug test.

No conspiracy, Jackson and Elaine injured.
Shelly was a major shock yesterday after running so well in her heat but I'm sure she would have run if she weren't injured too.
The Jamaican sprinters have such amazing global champs success in recent years which by definition means they keep not being injured at key times. And now this, such a different scenario, and some very modest results from those still standing. I never think that WA would cover up a positive but I'm wondering whether anyone withdrew because something suggests that they'd be errrm challenged by a mandatory in comp test.
