There was a very silly moment when the commentator though Cheptegei was getting spit out the back when it clearly wasn’t him, he was tucked in no drama in 11th or 12th out of site. And I kept yelling at the tv “he’s right there, running a smart race”. But they figured it out and it was amazing to not miss a single moment!!! What a race
I was going to cancel Peacock after the Olympics because the trials coverage was terrible. This 10000m was perfect. (I had announcers with British accent, not the feed with annoying Diffey and Kara). Right from the beginning when they were lining up the commentator said something like "This is the 10000m, it's like physical chess" and I was like "WHAT IS THIS? I LOVE IT!" and it just got better from there...sound of the crowd and stadium music in the background under the commentators. I listened on a big pair of Beats headphones and I felt like I was in the stadium. I legit thought maybe I fell asleep and was dreaming. The capper was the camera coverage at the end (it was perfect all the way), when the medalists were congratulating each other (Grant/Cheptegei) and yet somehow they managed to keep the finish line in the background so I could see whether Nico PRed. Everything we've ever begged for on this site and it all came together. I'm convinced that AI has gone super intelligent and it decided to serve us up what we wanted. Maybe world peace is next?
The only flaw was not putting up lap and/or kilometer splits during the race, but the race was so gripping that I didn't even need to see that.
After seeing this race, rather than cancelling Peacock I want to send them a donation. Please keep covering track like this.

The American announcers have to watch this over and over.
That's how you do it- you call the race! For 26:43 they called the race.
They didn't talk about how many kids they had or how many goats or cows they own.
They introduced every runner. They didn't just fixate on a few and talk about the farm they grew up on or show their cute kids in the bleachers.
They did an awesome job and it was a riveting 25 laps.
It was great. They also did a lot of slow-motion replays of the end showing Aregawi's kick and a little later, Kejelcha's despair. I do want to rewatch the NBC feed with Kara announcing. Heard she got choked up with Grant medaling. Love that.

They showed the splits every k. Yeah, I agree it was a good presentation for a change. I would have been livid if they cut away or had inane commentary, especially since both Nico and Grant were in it the entire way. Btw, was this Nico’s first int’l race of any kind? Another sub 27 from him and in warm conditions. Wow.
