I'm a high school runner who's going to be a senior this year. Last year I ran 18:06 for the 5k and 17:21 on a three mile course off of 35-40 miles a week. This summer I've bumped my mileage up to 60 and have been maintaining that for a few weeks. My tempos have been strong, about 6:00-6:05 for four miles. My weeks have consisted of a tempo run Monday, hill repeats or a fartlek on Thursday, a long run that I push toward the end if I'm feeling good on Saturday, and easy runs the rest of the days. My first race is in a little over a month on a flat, fast 3 mile course. Any time predictions? Ideally I want to break 17 in the 5k by the end of the season.
