Curious for a couple opinions. Could potentially have 3 sub 15 5k high schoolers this season on the team if top 3 don’t get hurt (#1 is already sub 15, 2 & 3 are ~15:10 and ~15:15 right now). ALL of our most important races of the season are on courses with nearly identical layouts; Fast & flat first mile, brutally tough second mile of ups & downs, third mile flat and fast. We have done a tempo-hill-tempo workout consisting of a 2 mile tempo @ 5:35s, 3min rest, 5 minute uphill @ 85% effort to build a little fatigue, 3 min rest, 2 mile tempo @ 5:35s. Was not difficult. Planned to build on this throughout the year by changing up distances & paces. Thoughts on the workout itself and other suggestions for course-specific workouts?
