Been watching the swimming and they've been breaking away for commercials from the longer events, although it's been screen in screen with the smaller screen the actual races. However, the longer swimming events (800 and 1500 meters) last 8 to 15 minutes similar to the steeple and 5000 but nowhere near the 10000.
The scariest part is they're doing it during the finals.
Spring for a month of Peacock. They have been showing entire events live with limited or no commercials. My wife even watched gymnastics PRACTICE on there.

I have Peacock but maybe others don't so be ready.
I have Peacock, there was no split screen for the men's 800 final free. They went to break, came back with roughly 130 meters to go. It's absurd. Let's not forget they had an interview with the sister during the first part of the race with a small section of the screen to watch race....

Yes, NBC/Peacock it's not going to matter. You can bet they're going grease in at least one commercial in the steeple and 5000, probably three in the 10000.

I don’t think you’re right. I suspect there will be the NBC feed and the world feed on Peacock, so if you choose the world feed, I would guess that the only interruptions would be field cut-ins. But we’ll find out on Friday.
There are two streams on Peacock. The “TV” stream is much worse, skip that. I’ve been watching the replays without commercials, which has been pretty good.
What about VPN to UK for BBC coverage? In Tokyo they covered the entire marathon with no ads, no "human interest" cutaways, just pure running commentary on the race and the competitors.

So have I. The bitching about spending the equivalent of 2 cups of coffee a month to get something we all want that comes every 4 years (ok, 3 this time) is pitiful.

Peacock usually has a primetime version which will only cover what NBC thinks is of interest to the general public.
However, if you browse around, you can at least find complete replays that will be without commentary but will be uninterrupted. At least that has been the case so far. I'm not sure about live, but I'm optimistic. I haven't watched as much live due to time zones.
