Yes! We did it with our son when he was a freshman and I think it was worthwhile, but it's not necessary. It's a great tool to learn about a lot of different colleges and it provided him with many camp and D2 & D3 recruitment opportunities. I will say that the first D1 that ever contacted him came from NCSA. I know that many big schools are on there but I believe they use it to get an athlete's contact info and then usually direct email or text. Some schools will also find the athlete they want on Instagram or social media.
If you don't want to do NCSA, it's totally fine, the biggest thing is that athletes need to reach out to the coaches at schools they are interested in directly. Athletes can easily do that from an email template. There are some Facebook groups for parents and books written about how to do this as well.
All in all, if it's in your budget, I would do it. I don't regret the purchase, especially since he has been using it all four years.
You don’t need film for track like you do for other sports. Email your times, GPA and SATif they’d benefit you to already be known, and one or two sentences about the program.
