Patients can just look up anything on the internet. Go to a clinic to get a test (blood labs, MRI, etc.) and if anything is outside the normal range you can just read the internet to learn how to interpret it. Pretty simple.
Nowadays, when people visit a doctor, they usually have already read enough on the internet to accurately diagnose themselves. I had to argue with a doctor last Friday to get her to understand that my A/G ratio was abnormally high. She's like, "Where do you see that number on the results?" I was like, "You take this number and divided by that number." I was surprised she didn't learn this stuff in med school.
Doctors have rigged it so you can't just go get tests, without going through them. Same with any drugs to fix what ails you. Same with all the amazing equipment. You have to go through them and all their bullsh!t. So all the modern advances which should make every aspect of your health better, easier, more private and independent, still has to be run through the $$$$$$$$$$ scam that is the US medical profession.
If you do research online, you'll probably know more than the average doctor in that moment. Think about it, most of them don't do any studying after graduating. So those oldies may be the worst, even though the clueless general public perceives them as the most knowledgeable. It is a totally overvalued profession. Most people blindly trust the corporate/big pharma bound doctors simply because they're too dumb/clueless with regards to the subject at hand. The doctor could say anything--even terrible advice, and they'd blindly adhere.

i’m sure you will all be my patients one day asking me stupid questions like “why do I have triple vessel CAD despite my lifelong commitment to the carnivore diet??”. Keep getting all your health info from social media & google and doctors will continue to be overworked for eternity.
Analyzing vast textual data and summarizing key information from electronic health records imposes a substantial burden on how clinicians allocate their time. Although large language models (LLMs) have shown promise in natura...
We wish. But like I said, there's no avoiding you guys. You've got the system rigged. If an adult in the US wants to check his lipid panel and see if he needs some statins, he can't even begin that process without miserable visits to you wonderful people. A visit where he will undoubtedly be ignored, delayed, judged, treated like sh!t, insulted and scorned with the very attitude toward patients that you displayed in your post above.
people are just so susceptible to being conned these days in every area of their life- from trump to social media gurus, we have a population of complete morons who think that everything is a conspiracy, expertise means nothing, and that they are special.
you’ll need a doctor one day and i hope you gain insight into how dumb you are when they help you
loool my sincere apologies for my attitude on an anonymous forum towards a bunch of ingrates talking sh/t about people who dedicate their lives to helping people. that totally reflects how doctors treat their patients or how i treat my patients. only in the delusions of internet trolls. free med advice- seek counseling.
imagine having to see 20-30 of you a day- im amazed the suicide rates for doctors arent 100%

doctors are like lawyers, everyone hates them until they need one
never self-diagnose - go into a consult with an MD prepared to ask them questions, and if you don't like what you hear, walk out. or take two OTC medications you read are cool on the interwebs, but didn't know about suggested dosage or contraindications and oops, now your kidneys are pissed
i like the dystopic story of OP needs to go the ER, gets taken by a robot ambulance and attended to robot EMTs, then met by robot staff, oh uh, now comes the robot attendant and you need brain surgery... actually, that's where the analogy holds up because neurosurgeons are already robots... but even they rely upon HUMINT

I’m a CPA and doctors are routinely some of the dumbest clients I have. Can’t spell, can’t do basic math, can’t understand any concept which requires thought. Your entire profession is devoid of critical thinking. It’s just memorize and regurgitate ad infinitum. Half of the outlandish tax court cases you read about involve some dumb@ss doctor who can’t accept that he took a foolish position

Sure. Get rid of doctors- great idea. You going to google “how to remove my ruptured appendix” or “how to rod my fractured femur”? How about “what do I do if I’m having a heart attack”?
lost interest already. your entire field is a bunch of autists leading the most boring life i could imagine. we’re too busy saving lives to spell. now do my taxes you monkey.

“Devoid of critical thinking”
what the actual f$&k? Come scrub in to the pancreatic tumor surgery tomorrow. I’m sure the surgeon will be so impressed by your ability to plug in numbers to your computer to do his taxes that he’ll just leave the room and let you do the surgery.
