Of course she wouldn’t. The queer-Palestine love fest goes one way. It’s the most hilarious thing about the progressive movement and it’s going to come a head at some point. The contradictions between LGBT beliefs and Islamic beliefs are the second most likely fault line on which the movement could fracture, behind only “black” and “anyone else that might get attention instead.”
very admirable of hiltz to still care and spread awareness about the scores civilian lives being lost in Palestine, despite the fact that Islam / Palestine may not be the most welcoming place for queer people.

How would the women's 1500m athlete (you know the one) be treated there?
Yknow that queer Palestinians do exist. And the biggest threat to them isn’t other Palestinians, but a strike from an oppressing country.
Well, tall rooftops say otherwise. As someone that has spent a fair amount of time in that neck of the woods, the majority of the openly homosexual and closeted Palestinians actually flee to Israel. There was an especially large mass exodus around 2002-2003, with a constant drip since then.
I am literally a gay Palestinian (I live in the US now although travel back frequently). I have had multiple family members killed. While Palestine is not the most gay friendly place I can assure you that Israel is a far bigger threat to my life than homophobes in Palestine.
