Well, WAY more than 3,000 worldwide are gymnasts...most high schools in the US have gymnastics, colleges have gymnastics, and there are gymnastics schools all over the US filled with girls and boys doing it. Way more than 3,000 just in the US do it.
If you're talking on an elite level, well, are you going to stop watching the NFL, or MLB or the NBA?
MLB: ~949 players
NBA: ~560 players
NFL: ~1696 players
Simone Biles is one of the greatest athletes ever, and she could arguably be the best athlete ever. I'll watch. I appreciate greatness.
Name all the gymnastics athletes that you know besides Simone? Probably Zero - am I right? No one cares about it and she shines in a sport that has very few participants. She is a big fish in a very tiny pond.
How long with this gymnastics crap? Like 3,000 world wide do it. Enough with Simone!

Most high schools do NOT have gymnastics! Only TX, IL, MA, and NY (and only in NYC) have it. According to USA Gymnastics only 176 high schools have gymnastics.
As for college, there are 81 women's programs and 12 D1 men's programs

More states than that have gymnastics. I think they all do. While there are limited college opportunities for gymnasts its because so much money is dumped into football and basketball rather than the unpopularity of the sport. That there are so few men's teams is a result of title ix compensation for bloated football rosters full of 3rd and 4th stringers.

Well, I AM a former gymnast, so I can name quite a few. I moved to diving and then finally running and now weightlifting primarily. I know of quite a few athletes in those sports/disciplines including Sam Sulek who was a very good diver and now a body builder (though I don't agree with his methods in the latter).
You are wrong in your depiction of gymnastics. It is a highly-skilled sport with millions of litle kids wanting to be the next Mary Lou Retton or Simone Biles. Biles has reached the pinnacle against all those who wish they could do what she can do.

Well, that's BS. Most big high schools in Ohio have it. I know someone who did gymnastics (somewhat recently) in in high school in Nebraska. So...NOPE!

If you count all the legit international professional leagues the Baseball and Basketball numbers shoot way up too

I went to the trials for both men and women so could name a lot of them. Even the former gymnasts that were introduced and some that were inducted into the hall of fame. Now if only I had Paul Hamm’s voice.

The participation in high school gymnastics in the United States in the 2021/2022 academic year was the lowest recorded since the beginning of the past decade.
Simone Biles is a gold digger (not olynpic gold) who slid into an NFL player DMs and ended up cuffing him. That being said, I hope she wins at the Olympics again because I really like some gold diggers as long as they're not too toxic.
Despite the renewed focus on PED use in the Olympics, the media has seemingly buried the TUE controversy surrounding Simon Biles. Back in 2016 the Russian hackers Fancy Bears leaked files from WADA’s database showing th...
