After Eugene he said he was embarrassed of his own racing and made lots of mistakes, he ran too much in lane 2 and took control too late (650) without pushing the pace hard enough, either because he thought he didn’t need to or because he couldn’t due to wasting energy.
Fast forward to Budapest and he makes a much earlier move to second position and takes the lead at 500 meters, making none of the mistakes he did in Eugene. This time though he is sick and does not have the energy to squeeze the kick out of everyone and he comes in second.
If you believe Jakob was truthful when he said he was sick there is no reason to believe that he will or should choose a different strategy in Paris. His competitors have improved, but so has he. His world lead this year is 2 seconds faster than the next guy and if we can assume that Paris is his main goal this year he will be a tiny bit more fit now than Monaco.
It is a race and anything can happen, but if he repeats his Budapest tactics I don’t see anyone stopping him if he is at full fitness.
