Actually it is fast. It is not world class fast but it is scholarship worthy fast.
4:20 isn’t fast is an apt comparison because you won’t win state in a lot of places with that time, it would’ve been like fifth in NJ group 2 this year
4:00 is still pretty quick because 3:56 or so makes nationals, there’s levels to this
3:59 will hold a lot of weight for a while. The general public will have low awareness at how common it's becoming. On top of that, the reaction you get from saying you ran 4:10 and 3:59 are basically the same because most people don't understand how significant 10 seconds is.
It's getting to the point where breaking 4:00 is just a box to check for most good milers rather than an end goal. Sub 3:55 is the new best in class number.
