Agree, who is this person?
Was english schools 800 champ. Went to uni in US, got broken and left the sport. Stayed fit doing duathlon. Decided to try again and got in touch with her old coach, who is also KH's coach
Yes, the 800 and 1500 progressions are amazing but she spent 5 years training as a top level duathlete, including winning her age grade at the World Champs.
Before that she has a really good junior record - including winning the English Schools on the track and some good performances at college level
She's not done any middle distance track really for years, aside from the odd BMC mile or 1500, until last year and even as late as December ran a 32 minute 10k. She's clearly got an absolutely aerobic monster of an engine and is now converting really well down the distances - a bit like a Nordas thing going on!
Trevor painter has the magic formula.

Besides late-bloomers I don’t really see any comp to Nordas. Ciara Mageean is who you are looking for but this is a more extreme example.

Super interesting read, very much explains the hiatus. Also gives me a bit of hope as a long since uni runner who gave up for my career but starting to get back into it in my 30s!
Georgia Bell is the athlete I'm rooting for the most in these Olympics (in addition to a pole vaulter). Very inspirational. Also, shout out to Chris Chavez (even though you're an f'ing Yankees fan) for a great interview.
"I cycle 3 times as much as I run a week... for me every time I run, it's either an easy 30-40 minute recovery run or it's a hard session. There's no long runs. There's no long fartlek stuff like that... For me the purpose of cycling is to stop getting injured, so at Cal I got a couple of stress fractures, so I was always kind of coming back trying to find fitness, whereas I think one of the big reasons for this breakthrough at the moment is because I've just had years to build and build and build without having to take time off... long [3-4hr cycle] ride on a Sunday instead of a long run.
On her 3:56 breakthrough EERILY similar description to Cram's on his WR:
"I don't know what it was, I just felt like I was floating... hard Diamond League earlier this year and we ran a 4:03, and that felt so hard, and I was like damn, how am I ever going to break four minutes."

Blatant cheat
More like incredibly resilient
