The UK is such a sh-thole that their best athletes live abroad.
The UK is on its way back to being a great country after the mess of 14 years of Tory government. The Brits came out in force to support their athletes and location location location of the event proves once again the reason why Eugene will continue to be a failure.
Yeah track in the US is a problem. People rather watch track for the Olympics. They want to see runners rather represent the USA than a brand in some diamond league. Hopefully Sprint helps but how is everyone going to watch it on tv with Flotrack too.
I blame a lot of former athletes not supporting the sport. So many do the sport in the US but don’t support it enough. Too many people leave the sport and never care again about it. Some of my old of my teammates who are female don’t give a crap about the sport after four years in college. Their career they had burned them out. They rather not care about someone else’s career in running.

There should be a much larger effort to get HS track and XC kids and their parents to watch pro track. Build the habit and interest.
The financial incentives must just not be aligned for anyone to drive that effort sufficiently.
lol, combined. If we had done that here in the uk we have had 50-60k every day
Exactly, we’re pathetic and Max doesn’t care about T&F he just uses it as a cash grab. The truth makes us plenty pathetic, so why does the poster have to make up obviously disproven claims?
Please realise that its not just the Brits in attendence to such a meet. Many fans consider this their Olympic chance and unabashedly turn up in droves fir the experience.
As the sporting calendar draws to an end, an event impact study has demonstrated the huge benefits of London hosting the world’s biggest sporting event in 2017.
It's news that the sport is bigger the UK? Since when?
You could credibly argue that after soccer, the UK doesn't really have a second favorite sport. Cricket, rugby, and a few others, including track, all have a strong following.
The US is so dominant with football and basketball that it's not even close. Track is like 20th.
It's just not equivalent at all. There is only one pro sport in the UK that anyone gives a crap about. There's at least seven in the US.
I wonder if US fans are tired of sports like track and cycling which are so obviously dominated by dopers. The Brits seem to be in “damn the torpedoes; full speed ahead!” mode, however.
