Hang with me for a sec. Last week, I think, someone posted that it's a shame it took Sara Hall so long to find that she is/was best suited for the marathon. I realize this is a hot take, but could that same thought apply to Parker Valby? There are serious durability issues that may be impossible to overcome if she stepped up to the marathon, but there's way more upside for her in longer distances vs. the 5K and 10K. It just feels like her ability to be competitive at the marathon has more immediate and long-term upside than winning national titles or international medals on the track. I get that she's young, and we've yet to see how she responds/improves in a professional training environment, but I can't help but think of someone like Conner Mantz, who more or less moved from college to the roads. Yes, he was MUCH older than Valby coming out of college, but it's a similar scenario re: his ability to be in that elite tier on the track vs. on the roads, especially the marathon.
