As a New Yorker, I do not understand how this will work. The Federation meet is extremely congested and this will make it even worse. I’m assuming they will have to make a limit on the number of Federation entries because this will be insane.

What’s the point of having a federation meet?
Other states don’t have that
What's the point of having the class meet?
Drop the class state meet.
Sectionals without classes. Add a week of super sectional/sub state regional meets. Then have a real state championship meet.
Finally. Always seemed silly to host two separate meets a week apart when most athletes/teams with a shot at NXN sat out of feds. As for “how will this work” you likely won’t be able to buy your way into NXR now unless you want to run the open race. Probably have to qualify for feds the same way as usual except top 5 and 2 teams will be named the NXN selections.
Isn't this exactly what California has been doing forever? I don't see a difference.
This is a huge development for NY and NE teams who had to race NXR, travel across the country, and race NXN in an 8-day span. I bet you'll see the teams from this region perform much better than they historically have.
finally an end to the month of hell that is
sectionals-> states->feds->nxr 4 weekends back to back
This is only 17 or so years too late. But... finally.
There's going to have to be some concessions on the make-up of the field for the Championship race. Seven CHSAA teams getting in would be an utter joke.
Since this happened in the past...
The top two teams in the state are in the same section and class. The loser at sectionals doesn't make the state meet. Then they have to hope for an invite to the Federation meet.
They get snubbed for some reason and then they wouldn't even get a chance to qualify for NXN.
Bethlehem and Saratoga will not get “snubbed.” They are too consistent for that. Both teams are going to be a shoe in for the Federation meet because they were both NXN qualifiers that performed well on the national stage last year, and they have a lot of depth. They will 100% have a chance to qualify for NXN; not sure why you think the Federation meet is a lottery because they’ve both been at the Federation meet for the past few years.
They're going to have to change the format. They can't have those PSAL, AAIS schools running in the race to pick who goes to nationals.
They have to make sure they don't leave anyone with a chance out.
The PSAL teams have done very well the last few years.

So what? That's basically what California does.
Has anyone heard when Footlocker will be now? Sounds like maybe they could race both?

Footlocker will keep the Saturday after Thanksgiving to allow the chances at both.
