Tldr: I dont love the prescribed training by my captains but also want to show support and workout with the team
Just to preface my coaches dont give a summer training plan because the say that they want to grow our training skills.
This summer I have been running 50-55 mile weeks with very little quality which I get in tempos weekly. Meanwhile practice run by the captains have started and the captain has provided a couple of pre planned weeks. These weeks include three or four workouts including 10x30 second sprints with a mile wu and cd and 3 mile tempos. These weeks also include usually two easy days consisting of 6-8 miles. These weeks usually come out to about 25 weekly miles which is half of what I have been doing prior. I have thought about doubling but I’m scared that all the speed work they’re doing will get me injured. That brings me to my main question. What should I tell my captain? Should I tell him I’ll show up before the practice to talk to the team and then do my own thing?
