I only run 30-35 miles but have slowly improved from 18 to mid 17. I find I cannot be bothered doing 10 milers anymore. Does it even matter? I do regular 7-8 miles in an hour so.

I hate long runs but they’re restorative and they build your aerobic capicity well.10 miles is a lot for a 30-35 mpw runner anyway as it’s 28 to 33% of weekly mileage while I think 20% is a good number - 14 for 70 mpw, 12 for 60 mpw (if you’re a pure miler), etc
I was told that there is an exponential increase in the number of capillaries built the longer you run. I never saw any backup for this beyond the one presentation I attended in high school. It was used as justification for doing 50 instead of 45, 60 instead of 50, 70 instead of 60 (minutes). At some point there was a point of diminishing return.
Just do doubles, break it into 5/5 if you need a long day, but run one slow and one faster
