Pretty much every Diamond League 1500 has 15 entries and a rabbit. Very few times do people fall. Unless it’s a women’s race because they are not as coordinated.
also, Hoppel in the 800m, but no Kessler in the 1500m. Why no Kessler?
It will be interesting to see Ciattei race. He had the strongest tactical race of the whole field at the trials. I wonder if it was luck or he is simply the smartest guy out there. In this race (for him), I think that the best tactics is to go straight to the back. Stick on the rail for at least 800m. move up a little at 800m. Try to find a spot on the inside in the turn. If not find a nice spot in the middle of the lane. Move back on the inside and fill the gaps as guys will move out to start passing with 500m to go, then start racing in the last 300m.
It will be interesting to contrast him to Nordas, who will sit somewhere in the back of the pack and then move out to lane 2 or 3 throughout the race
Rudolph and Sisk are pacers. 14 racers pretty typical. You’d imagine Ciattei, Arese, Gouyette and Nordas might be content to run near the back. That still leaves 9 fighting for positions behind Jakob.

The why No Kessler ? Has already been explained by me.
He ran 6 races in 10 days with travel on each end.
Further emptying the tank doesn’t work. Some maintenance and slight rebuild to carry maybe 3-5 more races is necessary.
its kind of simple really, not sure why this is confusing.
You will need two of those in rounds of 15 at least
Why burn one or use a bullet unnecessarily?
Plus the back and forth Transatlantic for one race ?
That burns 4 available training or retooling days.
Still think a race in London would make sense. I guess most athletes would probably go to St. Moritz after until Paris to avoid too much travels. Are there any good 1500s even in the US? Best I can see is Sound’s event in LA. Don’t love the prospect of no races in all of July.

Doesn’t matter what you love 😂
The plan is the plan and personally those who doubt the plan should take stock of what they think.
as to how it’s gone so far?
I would say even the most cynical skeptics would look foolish based on results to date? Right?
Hoppel actually needs to test and prove himself because there's a bunch of other 1:41 and 1:42 guys. Kessler accomplished everything he needed to do and that 1:43 shows great fitness and now he needs to relax and worry about getting through the rounds at the Olympics. Running this would just kill his confidence and gas him.

Ciattei is going for 3:29.9. he ain't chillin in the back.
I suppose sisk can get to 1k in 2:18-2:19 but how much longer can he go after that? He has a 1k PB of 2:15.52 set 3 days ago at FBK Games. He also has a 1500m PB of 3:35 from last year...I don't think we will be seeing a super fast time here. Maybe 3:28.

I can understand the concern with Kessler but back and forth transatlantic travel is totally unnecessary. They should all be in Europe from now until the end of the season.
