In case you're wondering, US Olympians who go over to Paris are not funded by the gov't like UK or Sweden. It's entirely privately funded () by donors and sponsors. I find it amazing how fair the Track&Field trials process (top 3 qualify) is given it is privately funded.
The United States Olympic & Paralympic Foundation (USOPF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting Team USA athletes on and off the field of play. As the fundraising arm of the United States Olympic & Par...
I'm a Brit, I'm embarrassed by UKA, as is every grass roots athlete I know.
I signed it.. UKA have got this wrong (again... World Champs...).
It's about money, bit UKA don't want to admit that... so won't select athletes to go on their own means... ridiculous situation... and against the spirit of the Olympics
No, as a UK taxpayer, I'm not paying. Screw these useless second tier parasires
Doesn't funding for UKA come from the lottery rather than from your taxes? Anyway, the Games are in Paris so even if your taxes would pay for them to go not a lot of your taxes would be doing it. And the idea of entering athletes who pay their own way or maybe have their shoe sponsor pay has been brought up and rejected.

The French Federation has made some big screw ups with their team selection process, too. They failed to enter some of the top 3 French athletes into the European Championships in June, making it impossible for them to make the team. I’m not able to find the articles on it now (because track and field translates to “athletics” so I’m getting every sport in my search). This is not the first time the French Federation has screwed its athletes apparently.

Funded by lottery not taxation.
The non selections really are not about affordability of the tiny marginal cost. Believe uka on that at least.
Not sure why this was downvoted so much. first point is a statement of fact. 2nd point - UKA (able bodied not Paralympic) has a £22million elite budget over 4 years including Paris 2024. Any estimates of the added marginal costs of having the disputed 'invitees' taken to Paris and managed for the required duration? Low to mid 5 figures? And remembering that the majority of the costs involved in Paris will not be UKA's. I realise the affordability point isn't a provable matter of fact but I think anyone with some knowledge and numeracy can make a judgement on this. fwiw I used to work on these programmes and it would have been a non-subject to discuss this sort of cost in this size of budget in the context of almost anything and most definitely in context of binary matter of qualified athletes (in any sport) going or not going to OG. Even with UKA's current financial position. It's policy not funding in play.
