She was leading the race up to about 1300m, didn't follow the pacer so the whole race was just slow. Final 50m she also collided with another runner a bit.
Should be noted that it was cold (15c/60f) and raining but still a bit of a sad result, I doubt she will do the 1500 in Paris.
Anyone watch the race? Did something happen or was that her best effort? :(
Dead legs. She’s a road racer now. No shame in this. She should just focus on the marathon. In that event she remains a serious threat if not the favorite.
As the saying goes, father time is undefeated. This will be her last shot at the Olympic medal at any event. In 2028. she'll be 35 and I don't foresee her medaling in anything much less even top 10.

Do you know what training through means
she said she was going to taper for this meet and came with "special goals". and even if she wasn't fresh, it's still a rlly sad result. a very tired kipyegon, tsegay, hull, st pierre, etc. would have won this race
yeah and kipyegon is 30 and just set a new WR. it's so sad to see what's become of Kipyegon's great rival. the rivarly is simply no more - they are no longer peers :(
Yeah she tried to balance to much range. 1500-Marathon and it just broke her. There is a reason elites just do not do that and it lowers performance across the board to try to.
I've added in the 10,000 info to the title as it's important.
Everyone thought she was going to run the 10,000 the night before but she was a DNS. This weekend she wanted to practice the 10,000/1500 on back to back nights but she pulled out of the 10,000 last night after warming up. She pulled out like 6 or 7 minutes before the start because it was so windy. Watch the first minute of this for an explanation:
She pulled out of the 10k due to the weather, the weather didn't end up being that much better today either but I reckon she's probably in better form for 10k/Marathon as opposed to 1500/5k

Having watched the race, I'd summarize it as saying she looked like marathoner running the 1500.
She hit 800 in 2:09 in the front and the bell in 3:00. 1200 was reached in 3::16.73. On the final turn a couple women came around her and boxed her in but she then moved out but didn't have an acceleration or move up in the final 100. She did get jostled a bit with about 45 meters to go but that was well after it was clear she was going to be beaten. She did give up just before the line.
After it was over, Geoff Wightman summed it up perfectly. "She looks perplexed," he said as she had a confused smile on her face.

I think this is a terrible take.
There is no indication she's old. We have plenty of women ROCKING it in their mid 30s.
I think she's spread too thin. Running the 1500 doesn't make any sense for her anyway in Paris. She was only 3rd in 2021 and one wouldn't expect her to be better 3 years later. Plus this time the 1500 final is the day after the 10,000 finala nd 12 hours before the marathon final.
If I was here, I'd do some combo of 5000/10,000/marathon or hell just go all in on 1.
