ESP scratched to focus on the 1500, and Valby passed on it to focus on the 10000.

Great decision by Parker/coaches. She’s young yet I’m not sure she’s ready for the double of these events yet.
Wow, that's great news for Whittni! Thrilled for her!
Go WHITTNI! BYU represent!!! Another one: Let's go Utah!

I believe that now brings the total to 7 former/current BYU distance runners who will be representing their country in the Olympics (6 for Team USA, 1 for Team Canada). Not to mention the several BYU athletes who made finals in their respective event. Just wild!
It's kind of a bummer because she really just isn't on the same level as the top 4 in that race. Although good for her there was an opportunity to be an Olympian and she took it.
that's the system....she is an olympian. So tired of the bitter, jealous, losers on this board.

guess the goal would be to try to make the final. PR is 15:02 I think.

That is why you fight until the end for time and placement, even when it looks like all hope is lost. Valby did that, and the 5000 could have easily been her only option. Whittni obviously ran hard in the prelims and in the final, and is being rewarded.
It seems that a lot of folks really bombed at their Firecracker Freedom 5K on Tuesday. It's been extra chippy this week.

she had knee surgery in the winter so this whole year leading up to the trials was rehab and slowly building strength. just getting 5th was an achievement itself against a field of fully tapered runners. she's been improving in each race and now has an entire month to train for the big one. don't be surprised if she makes it thru to the finals.

So happy for her! Love watching Morgan.

She has no chance of making the final.

Why isn't she ready to double? She handled the double fine at the trials.
She won't be a factor in either race. Might as well have done both.
Nice 🔥
